Merry Christmas! I'm Getting Fat

Ok, so I'm not getting fat by American standards. I'm probably not even near average for good ol' USA. But I'm slowly and steadily gaining weight, even if I'm the only one that notices.

September

December

Of course, eventually someone is bound to notice. And that someone is Daddy.

Yesterday morning, during Christmas breakfast...

Daddy: Wow, you're really eating a lot, Jilly. You finished your omelette and now you're eating two pieces of French toast? Daddy's never seen you eat like this.
I pause, thinking maybe I shouldn't eat all this.
Jilly: It's not... that much.
Mommy: You'd be surprised. She can eat more than you'd think and stay that small.
Daddy: What do you think? Now that you're married, you can eat as much as you want?

This was met by an "Ohhhhhhh" from the rest of the family, the type usually reserved for "yo mama" jokes on the playground. Daddy quickly laughed it off, assured me he was kidding, and kissed me one too many times on the cheek.

Daddy, we're not friends. When I can curse in front of you, you can make jokes.

    1. Thanks and you're mostly right. I'm just not walking as much now that I'm in suburban.

  2. It is interesting when one day you wake up and you wonder what happen. One day I have a flat tummy and I could rock most outfits, the next day there is a child, a belly and well not enough time for the gym. This is year, I have vowed to get back into something cute. Happy Holidays! BTW you would wonderful!

    1. Ha, thanks. And I know those photos look almost identical. I have gained weight though, but it's fine.

      Daddy's just... inappropriate sometimes.

  4. Hi Jill,
I know what you mean about gaining weight this time of year. I generally eat a whole, natural diet but I do have challenges resisting sweets when they are in the house.

I went gluten-free last year and that is when I found out I had a gluten allergy. Most wheat products like breads and pasta contain gluten.

I lost about 5 pounds in 7 days when I went gluten free. Gluten causes the body to retain water/bloating which makes one appear heavier.

    Take Care.

    1. Thanks for reading and for your advice. I actually tried going gluten free for a week, just for kicks. But then it was my bridal shower and the cake was really good and I forever fell off the wagon.

Also the week that I went gluten free, I started getting pains in my side, which is probably unrelated but it's like a bad association. Maybe I'll try again one of these days.

  5. I think "fat" looks good on you. well, at least, you'll keep me company in the "fat" department. My uncle once told me that I looked good (He hadn't seen me in a while and I lost like 5lbs), but he further suggested that I go ahead and lose 10lbs, then I'll look really good. Damn family. They are so supportive.
